DEEP TISSUE

I will use a combination of deep tissue techniques to bring relaxation; to treat injury or dysfunction and to prepare for - or recover from - performance. We will talk about how ‘deep’ you’d like the massage to be. In my experience, we all have different ideas about the ‘perfect pressure’ and I’ll do my best to find yours!

Using intuitive touch and listening, my treatments use techniques such as deep tissue work, trigger point release, muscle energy techniques, gentle mobilisation & stretching.

SPORTS / PERFORMANCE

My interest in body work came from training as a physical performer, and wanting to understand my injuries better, and ways in which to minimise the negative effects of this high-intensity job. This experience enriches my practice, and a high number of my clients are performers or athletes: from casual joggers to circus performers and marathon runners. I am trained with a Level 5 Diploma in Sports and Remedial Massage Therapy - which includes a high level of anatomy and physiology training. With every treatment, I can offer a programme of strengthening and stretching exercises tailored to your needs, to ensure your rehabilitation and wellbeing continue outside of the massage room.

PREGNANCY

I trained with expert Suzanne Yates from Well Mother to attain a diploma - with a distinction - in Pregnancy Massage, accredited by the British Complementary Medicine Association. This is one of the most in-depth pregnancy massage courses in the UK. This training has given me a solid foundation with which to support pregnant people and their families during this life changing time with specialised massage skills, along with positioning, postural exercises, breath and visualisations and self care. I am also trained to work sensitively with those who have had more challenging experiences such as miscarriage or issues conceiving or are experiencing higher risk pregnancies.

CERRADA / CLOSING THE BONES

'Closing the bones' is a traditional ceremony originating from South America but now practised all over the world. It is used to process and honour the immense changes that a person experiences following birth, pregnancy loss or termination. Or any other big life shift.

This ritual offers closure and re-balancing, whilst also honouring what your body has achieved and gone through.

INFANT MASSAGE

New for 2024, I am now offering infant massage for babies from 6 weeks to 2 years old. Infant massage has a host of benefits to both the child and the parent. A wonderful continuation of my antenatal and postnatal massage care, infant massage can help parents to strengthen their bond with, and to better understand, their child. It can improve the infant's sleep patterns, relieve colic, aid digestion, boost their immune system and improve sin health.

I have been suffering with back and hip pain for a number of years now. Tessa set up a great program for me to manage my pain and she also helped to relieve my pain. However more importantly, she was brilliant with helping me on an emotional level to deal with my pain. For me personally that's half the battle. She approches her work like a true professional and I felt safe in her care. I highly recommend Tessa as a practitioner.

Sam Lachlan

Tessa has been fundamental to my well-being during my third trimester. Not only is she lovely, she is a calming presence when I see her and extremely knowledgeable. I have never felt like I was in any other than kind, safe hands. Would recommend to anyone.

Anna Day

I went to see Tessa to help with chronic knee pain. I have had physio in the past so I was well aware of what I should be doing. Tessa consultation style meant I felt she had a good understanding of how the problem affected me both physically and emotionally and was realistic and empowering in the exercises she gave me to improve my body mechanics. I always left feeling rejuvenated in body and mind and more positive about managing my knee pain.
